OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO EARN COLLEGE CREDIT

DUAL ENROLLMENT and EVENING COLLEGE

DUAL ENROLLMENT

The Dual Enrollment Program provides an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to get an early start to earning college credit.  By enrolling in college courses, high school students can receive both high school and college credit while taking advantage of a first-rate academic experience. These courses are held in the high school during the regular school day.  The courses are typically first year college curriculum.  Pierpont offers Dual Credit Enrollment classes at the recommendation of the Principal.

Instructors for the Dual Enrollment courses are high school teachers who have the appropriate credentials required by Pierpont Community & Technical College.  Dual Enrollment courses use textbooks adopted by Pierpont Community & Technical College.  Students are responsible for purchasing their textbooks.

High school juniors and seniors who have met the following criteria are eligible.

  1. High school junior or senior
  2. Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  3. Course pre-requisite requirements (if applicable)
  4. Complete a Dual Enrollment registration form (available in high school office)

Savings of tuition dollars make Dual Enrollment a great investment!  Courses are offered at a greatly reduced rate set each year by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.  The current 2017-2018 tuition rate is $84 per credit hour.  This makes a 3-credit hour course $252.00 and 4-credit hour course $336.00.
