Classroom
Career and Technical Education classes combine standard classroom teaching styles with projects based learning and hands-on skills.
Students can complete in Broadcasting Technologies through passing the 4 main classes:
Fundamentals of Broadcasting
Radio Broadcast Presentations
Television Production Applications
Producing Live TV
Students may also elect to enroll in Video Editing where they will learn to edit and work on post-production aspects of broadcasting in television and radio.
Simulated Workplace - LCN Channel 3
Students lead the broadcasting for LCN Channel 3 through the following:
Newscasts: Monthly projects which include pre-production, production, and post-production work to film a 15-25- minute newscast.
Special Projects: School-wide videos, lipdubs, short films, concerts, school programs, etc.
Commercials and PSAs: We work with the school and community to produce advertising opportunities.
Livestreaming: We present play-by-play for basketball, soccer, football, softball, and baseball. Plans are underway to expand our coverage.

Simulated Workplace - LC Experience Podcast
Students also create the LC Experience Podcast through the following:
Podcasts: Opinion-based shows which focus on school, community, sports, fiction, and non-fiction topics.
Readers, Commercials/PSA, YouTube Shorts: Reporters will work on other podcast related forums.
Students will work on pre-production, production, and post-production duties and responsibilities.

Instructors
Mrs. Lesley White
Mrs. Lesley White earned her Bachelor's in Journalism from West Virginia University and her Masters in Teaching from Marshall University. She has taught journalism for the past thirty years where her students have earned awards in journalism from Marshall University W. Page Pitt School of Journalism, United High School Media, WVU Pearly Isaac Reed School of Journalism, and Ohio University Southern, and OU EMPixx.
Mrs. White became a CTE teacher the 2023-24 school year after teaching Freshman English for 28 years. Her favorite part of teaching is watching her students grow and develop important life skills and working with colleagues who support her students' efforts. White is married with two sons and a daughter-in-law. They live on a small family farm in Lewis County. White enjoys writing, swimming and teaching water aerobics during the summer.
