Classroom

Career and Technical Education classes combine standard classroom teaching styles with projects based learning and hands-on skills.

Students can complete in Tourism through passing the 4 main classes:

  • Introduction to Tourism

  • Travel West Virginia

  • Outdoor Education

  • Adventure Tourism

    Students may also elect to enroll in Tourism Operations.

Simulated Workplace

The Minutemen Print Shop is a hands-on opportunity for students to hone skills in advertising. Students create, design, and produce, print advertisements, including t-shirts, stickers, mugs, posters, and other advertisements for local sports teams, events, and community groups. The Minutemen Print shop is student-led and includes roles of a design team, production managers, and advertising/marketing leaders.

 Real Life Travel: Students participating in the Tourism & Hospitality program have opportunities to travel West Virginia and enjoy various activities including, winter sports, outdoor recreation such as biking and hiking, and different historical and cultural site visits. 

FBLA

FBLA inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences.

At LCHS, students have an opportunity to participate in many community service projects while preparing for competition.

This club is very active and continues to grow every year. We send several students to National Competitions located anywhere from Florida to California.

Instructors

Mr. Sean Harris

Sean Harris is a graduate of Lewis County High School class of 2007. Post high school he graduated from Glenville State College with a bachelor’s in history & political science. While attending he became enamored with travel and tourism in West Virginia & worldwide. Sean later graduated from Liberty University with a master’s in education leadership. Post college he worked for the Division of Culture & History, The Event Center at Brushy Fork and later became the campus Events Director for Davis & Elkins College. Sean joined Lewis County High School as the Tourism Instructor in August 2023.
