The NRA Foundation Awards $6,500 to AF JROTC WV-941 Minutemen

(Weston, WV)  -- The NRA Foundation has awarded Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AF JROTC), WV-941, Lewis County High School a grant totaling $6,500 to fund the purchase of two air rifles and three air tanks  "We are very excited about our contributions to the establishment of a Cadet Marksmanship Program at Lewis County High School "said Kenny Matthews, Chairman, Central WV Friends of the NRA, "and pleased that the NRA is making an investment in our community.

About the Lewis County High School AFJROTC  

The Lewis County High School AFJROTC program (WV-941 Minutemen) were established in 1994 and their mission is to "Develop citizens of character."  Students who enroll in this program are offered a wide variety of curricular and co-curricular activities.  The program explores the historic and scientific aspects of aerospace technology and teaches self-reliance, self-discipline, and other leadership characteristics.  Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) concepts are also an important part of this world class program.  AFJROTC is open to 9th-12th grade students who are citizens of the United States.  By Title 10 USC, this program is a citizenship program, not chartered as a recruiting program for the military, and students who participate do not incur any obligation to the Air Force.
