Peterson-Central Elementary

Dear Wildcat Families,

Welcome students and families to the 2021-2022 school year. We are excited to welcome you back to what we hope will be a normal year. Lewis County Schools will operate on a five day / full day schedule. As you are aware, the COVID-19 virus is still present in our state and communities. Therefore, many of our safety procedures and protocols will stay in place to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Please be flexible as these changes are fluid and could change with the increase / decrease of cases.

For your convenience, we have highlighted some important information as you prepare your children for the start of school on August 24th. Pre-K students will begin on September 1st.

  • Open House for students and families in grades PK-4 will be held on August 23, 2021 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
  • There are several new faces around PCES, including the employment of a new Assistant Principal. We will be posting little snippets about each on our Facebook page in the coming weeks. Please make them feel welcome.
  • There will be no virtual option for elementary students this school year. All students will be participating in-person.
  • Hours of school operation are 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM. Please ensure your children are dropped off between 7:30 AM – 7:50 AM each day. When dropping off or picking up your children, you must remain in your vehicle. If you need to enter the building for an emergency, illness, or acquiring your child for an appointment, you must come into the office and sign your child out.
  • Please do not enter the parking lot for pick-up until 3:00 PM. We receive numerous complaints daily about traffic being blocked on Berlin Road.
  • Dismissal time will begin promptly at 3:00 PM daily. All student pickups must be concluded by 3:30 PM.
  • For students traveling home by bus, a parent / guardian must be present at the bus stop. If there is not someone at the bus stop, your child will not be released, and you will be contacted immediately regarding a pick-up location. If this becomes a common occurrence, transportation privileges could be suspended / terminated.
  • Lewis County Schools will not require masks for the 2021-2022 school year. However, the Lewis County Board of Education encourages all those who wish to wear a mask to do so and encourages all who are able and willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Please note, as this situation develops the Lewis County Board of Education has the right to revisit this decision.

We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and look forward to welcoming our students back soon. If we can assist you in any capacity, please contact the school to speak with your administration.

 Respectfully,

Mrs. Comer, Principal

Ms. Woofter, Assistant Principal
