Bathroom Expectations
-1 person at a time out of class. (If the teacher does a whole class bathroom break the teacher must monitor students in the hall).
-Students may not go to the bathroom during transition times (to and from lunch, between classes, before homeroom or at the end of the day).
Reason (Students need to report to class and sign in and out so that the teacher knows where they are at all times).
-Leave classroom and go straight to the bathroom-use designated bathroom.
Explain where the designated bathrooms are. Art Room uses the vocational bathrooms, Gym uses the gym bathroom, Music, Band and Choir bathroom by office. 6th grade bathroom by office. Classes from the elevator to the end of the 2nd floor wing use the old 5th grade bathrooms. 2nd Floor from elevators to Library use the 7th and 8th grade bathrooms and Library students will use the 7th and 8th grade bathrooms.
Reason (Saves time, you don’t miss instruction, the teacher needs to know where you are at times).
-If the bathroom is busy wait outside or return to class.
Reason (Student doesn’t miss too much instruction time and students have less chance to get into trouble).
-Use bathroom and wash hands with soap. Use appropriate amount of materials and dispose of them properly.
Reason (So, the bathroom remains clean and safe for everyone).
-In the bathroom be respectful of the space, other peers and yourself.
Reason (Everyone deserves privacy in the bathroom).
-Clean up after yourself.
Reason (Everyone deserves a clean bathroom that has the needed supplies).
-Leave bathroom promptly.
Reason (Other students can use the bathroom, less learning loss and less chances to get into trouble).
-Return to class without stopping anywhere else including other teachers.
Reason (Student is then not disrupting other classrooms or missing important instruction).
-Get a quick drink if needed.
Reason (So that student misses less instruction or work time).
-Alert the teacher with needs in the bathroom-toilet paper and soap or if there is another issue. Quietly without interrupting instruction.
-Alert the closest teacher immediately if there is a fight or someone is taking a picture or video, medical emergency, or water flooding in the bathroom.
-Alert your teacher quietly without interrupting instruction if there is a need for supplies.
Reason (So that all students have bathroom supplies and a clean safe bathroom.

We are excited to welcome back all our Patriots to the 2023-2024 school year. We hope you have had a relaxing and restful summer. We have worked this summer to make this year the best school year possible. We are looking forward to sharing all our hard work with our students and their families. I want to take this time to answer a few questions.
The doors will open at 7:20 this school year. Bell for first period will ring at 8 with a tardy bell ringing at 8:02. Parent drop offs will follow the same procedure as years past where you will drop off students at the crosswalk in front of the building. Please do not drive through the bus lane beside the building. This is a hazard for buses, cars, and most, importantly, our students. The day will end at 3:01. Walkers and parent pickup will be released at approximately 3:12.
We have new backpacks full of school supplies ordered for our students. As soon as they arrive, all students will receive one. The planners that your students will be receiving will contain the student handbook with all our rules and regulations.
As soon as the schoolwide expectations have been presented to our students, we will be sharing them with parents. These expectations discuss proper classroom, cafeteria, bathroom, assembly, and hallway behaviors as well as a review of important rules from the handbook.
We will be having a spirit day on Friday, August 25th to celebrate our first full week of school. We will be asking our students to wear a shirt color based on their grade level. Sixth grade will wear red, seventh grade will wear white, and eighth grade will wear blue.
We look forward to great year of growing and learning. Can’t wait to see our Patriots bright and early on Monday morning, August 21st.

This is Superintendent, Dr. Melinda Stewart, welcome back to another exciting school year in Lewis County! As we begin this new academic journey, I want to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to both our returning students and to those who are joining our district for the first time. We are looking forward to a great year, full of growth and learning. See you Monday!

Welcome back for the 23-24 school year. We are excited to welcome our Patriots back to our halls.
Student schedules can be picked up on Thursday, August 10th between the hours of 9 am and noon as well as between the hours of 3 pm and 6 pm. You can also take this time to chat with me if you have any concerns, questions, or suggestions for the upcoming school year. Those schedules that are not picked up will be sent home in the mail.

As a courtesy to parents and students, on Wednesday, June 7th for 9 am to 1 pm. a parent or responsible adult will be able to come to the school and pick up the final report card of the 2022-2023 school year. All lockers have also been emptied and all remains have been put into the main hallway outside the office. You will be able to check for any left behind items at this time as well. Any report cards that are not picked up by 1 pm will be mailed. We will keep left behind items until Friday, June 30th. They can be picked up during regular school hours until that date.
Have a wonderful summer break.

It is hard to believe we are already preparing for the 2023-2024 school year but we are. If you are currently enrolled with Community Care, the medical clinic is offering free sports physicals on Tuesdays for the remainder of the school year. All you need to do is fill out the parent portion of the official WVSSAC physical form and have your student bring it with them to school.
One less thing to worry about and very convenient.

Reminder: Lewis County Schools will be closed Friday, April 28th.

Fred Eberle will be offering their summer program again this year for rising freshmen and sophomore students. It will take place Monday-Tuesday, June 5-6, 2023. Students may attend half-day sessions in up to 4 of our programs over the two-day session. Please use this link or QR code so that we may gather information about how many students may be interested in this opportunity. Thank you so much for your help!
